In the 1930's Japan wanted to compete with the industrialized nations of Western Europe and the USA. However Japan was natural resource poor, and all the local resources were locked up by the colonial powers. So Japan started attacking nearby countries with resources, like the Phillipines, Guam, and China. In 1941 FDR imposed an oil embargo on Japan, cutting off 80% of their supply.There is another issue; an upstream issue. If sanctions against China continue/increase, the Semiconductoe Mfg Equipment companies will be greatly impacted.
