I will have these things installed next summer. In the meanwhile, I want to order parts (before tariffs raise prices) but I have some confusion.

In my shopping cart at Amazon, I have:

1) ZZP coolant bypass elbows.

2) FEL-PRO MS 98014 T Engine Intake Manifold Gasket Set, which I understand is for lower intake. Made in USA AFAIK.

3) ATP Automotive Graywerks 106001 Engine Intake Manifold, which I understand is for upper intake. Made in China.

In an earlier thread or perhaps in a PM Trav recommended I use a genuine GM gasket. For the upper or lower intake? i.e. - instead of Felpro lower or ATP upper gasket?

Is ATP a good enough option for upper stuff? I wouldn't mind paying more if there's a better option. Likewise with Felpro.

He gave you a recommendation. You’re choosing to ignore it.

Don’t go buying Chinese parts on Amazon, unless you feel like doing the job over again.

Get genuine GM parts from a reputable source.

Or, ignore what he told you, ask this question on the Internet, look for validation, buy the cheap stuff on Amazon, and hope it works.

I have done these jobs on a 3800. This is what I used:

1. I used Dorman metal elbows changed with OEM seals. Make sure you use metal ones. Not familiar with ZZP.
2. I also used Felpro. OEM is also a good choice. Both are metal backed gaskets.
3. ATP is what I used and worked great. Comes with the metal sleeve for the EGR passage. From what I recall, the new upper ATP manifold has an intergral rubber sealing gasket.

I ordered mostly from Rock Auto. Never Amazon.

I'm not choosing to ignore his advice. I didn't understand his advice because I don't know if he was referring to the upper or lower manifold gasket, or both. I'm seeking clarification to help me understand his advice. I have to understand it to be able to follow it.

You don't need to jump down my throat for asking for clarification.

“Jump down my throat”? Please. You PM’d a person for an answer, they took the time to answer you, and you then made this post, which means that you wasted that person’s time, or don’t trust them.

I find both possibilities to be objectionable.

I made my objection known.

Before this thread gets locked, I want to state that I appreciate Trav, Lubenor, Fantastic, ZeeOSix, Glenda, and all helpful people at BITOG. Thank you. I appreciate you.

The reason I didn't ask Trav for clarification about which gasket he was referring to was I didn't want to bother him again. He's already been so kind and helpful. I didn't want to be a nuisance to him. Thank you Trav for your expertise, advice, and being a great guy. I appreciate you.

Did you use the ATP upper manifold gasket that came with the ATP manifold kit, or did you use a GM OEM upper manifold gasket with the ATP upper manifold?
