Run an offline scan, it will shut down windows and restart. After it completes you will be able to run scans normally.

I'm assuming SanDisk is an external USB drive?

Does the computer recognize other USB drives and only not recognize this particular SanDisk one?

Does it allow you to format it? Granted, you'd lose all data if you did.

Yes , the USB thumb drives are fine . It's the slot for the SD card that's not being read . Use this for pictures from the camera .

Ahhhh, OK, post a screenshot of Device Mangler, you may need drivers.
