INSECTS (Wasps)

Komodo Dragons are awesome. I'd like to see one of them go up against a croc.

That outcome would depend on the croc in question, one of those Godzilla-sized saltwater boys wouldsnap up the average Komodo Dragon in no time.
As for tasty bites, water mocassins are no fun. nasty bacteria as well as the hemotoxic venom. I still have a scar and bad memories.

The ultimate show down IMO, would be a Siberian Tiger vs a Kodiak Bear. There are reports in Eastern Siberia of Tigers killing brown bears. Some are either cubs, or smaller brown bears. I don't think a Tiger could take a 1,200lb 12ft tall Kodiak bear.

Speaking of insects. A couple of weeks ago there was a wasp nest on the ground. It was as big as a grapefruit. I went over to investigate duuuuuuhhh . Got stung

Since I was mowing at the time that was a big mistake for them. I took one more sting to position the mower (running) right over the nest. Watching those suckers disappear into the blade...Priceless

haaaa. Al, something similar happend to my grandfather year's ago. He was mowing the lawn and ground hornets went up his pant leg. Was stung at least 10 times. He got mad and lit the area on fire. HAAAAA.

Honey bees are the sissies of the stinging insect world.. now a white assed hornet is like getting shot and burns for hours... in my youth, my dad got into a nest of them cutting up a dead elm.. his head swelled up like a basketball.

Once one of our contractor's from Germany was here and the guys were golfing. He took a drink of the beer and a bee was in it and stung him, possibly at the back of the throat. Loved the guy, but he didn't make it and within minutes of hospital with excellent emergency services. Terrible. To this day, I'm paranoid about checking and covering what I drink outside.

Sad story, but unfortunately true.

A good friend of mine got bit by a brown recluse in high school. Her foot turned all funky and brown and she had to have surgery to take out the nasty part. If you see a spider with a fiddle on its back stay away.

as a kid i mowed over a yellow jacket nest and got stung up pretty bad.round 2 really sucked for them though.
came back after dark with a mx-991/u with red filter and a dish soap bottle full of gasoline.
btw no fire needed as the fumes will do them in overnight.

Cicada Killers are pretty much like most wasps: Leave them alone and they're happy to do the same for you.

Dallas might as well call itself Cicada Central. Those boogers are the worlds loudest insect (you can hear them from more than a mile), and if you live close to a city freeway a bunch of them can drown it out. Don't need white noise when you've got cicadas. First day of summer around here is when I hear the first one, usually first or second week of June.

The cicada killers move over the ground in lazy S or Z patterns. Never have been bitten, but I've always stayed out of their way. Very low on the aggression scale. Burrow is underground.

And let's not confuse wasps with hornets. The latter invite the idea of napalm.
