My 09 sonata is smooth and quiet at start up but after driveing my 30 mile commute when I pull in the driveway, if I leave the car running and get out and listen its ticks a little bit. Maybe thats normal?? I cant even hear the motor when I'm in the car but if I go through a drive through window or leave it running I can hear a slight tick. I know that noises are hard to pin doen when I'm just describeing it but do you guys think its just the fuel injectors or do I maybe need a thicker oil at running temp?

you know what its probably normal and I'm crazy.
Engines can and do make noise. Have you compared it to another 09 Sonata? What happened to thinner is better?

Many cars make injector noise. The Toyota 3.5L V6 does it. If you take the engine cover off my Lexus you can really hear it. barely audible in the car if the a/c & radio is off at idle. More of a clicking noise and happens after warm up.
If it makes the noise only when hot, I doubt it's the injectors.
They normally make more noise when cold.
Some lifter/valvetrain noise is normal, esp. on Hyundas.

My GF has an 09 Sonata same engine as you w/4500 miles and its real quiet using 5w30 conventional Valvoline. Her 2000 with the 4 cyl. is a little bit louder using 10w30 high mileage Valvoline @ 109,000 miles. I put some Mobil 1 in the 2000 once and it was alot louder. Try Valvoline and see it it helps.
My car does the same, the ticking doesn't have that metal on metal sound, but more like a relay clicking sound.
When the engine is gold there are other noises from the camshafts, higher RPM that muffle the sound, it's really faint, so I think it makes sense that you can hear them when the engine is fully warm, remember these are not the old mechanical injectors, these are solenoid actuated and I think the sound is from the solenoids themselves rather than the injector mechanism.

my escape does the same thing, the colder it is outside the louder it is, I have found 5-20 mc to be the best oil to minimize this, the 30 weights made the noise worse,
IMO, I believe it is the HLA"s sort of "catching up" after being pumped up from driving and high oil pressures and returned rapidly to idle and an unloaded engine, after idling for a few minutes the noise goes away because the hydraulic lash adjusters have compensated.
