In-N-Out opening in Tennessee along with an eastern headquarters in Nashville area

In N out doesn't franchise, hasn't sold out, and control has remained in the founding family.

From what I can tell quality hasn't dropped one bit although prices have gone up, but it's still the best burger and fries deal to be had, no freezers all fresh meat and produce.

The fries are made fresh right from potatos in front of you vs frozen from a bag.
This makes them different vs better or worse.

This company pays a solid wage and promotes from within.

After eating multiple times at In n Out, I often asked myself "why the cult following"?

In n Out was always exceptionally consistent. Clean, never a stale bun, food prepared and packaged flawlessly, outstanding customer service. Yet, i found the burger good, but not outstanding. I eat out often and have become a zero condiments guy, as most fast food places can't place consistently the quantity of ketchup, the lettuce and tomato flavorless and nasty, etc. I can't eat a slice of onion for one billion dollars. So, I simply order a plain burger at nationwide fast food chains.

The last time I ordered at In n Out, I forgot to say no sauce. The sauce on the In n Out burger was a game changer. Made the In n Out burger from a good burger to a tasty treat. .

In n Out is the real deal when it comes to affordable and consistent fast food on a nationwide basis.

On the sauce - this is the only burger I tell people to order off the menu, dont alter it.

Just order the #1. Only option is onions, cooked or raw.

The lines outside do not lie.

You have Five-Guys out there? They're the same, but larger portions and higher prices.

Yes we do and I like 5 guys a lot.

You get about 25% more product for more than twice the price.

Their fries are more what people expect -double fried, and heavy with peanut oil and one can eat them after the burger and they'll stay edible where at In-n-out you really need to get on the fries before they cool.

Between the two I'll pick In-n-out every time, but 5 guys make an excellent and heavy meal and I've never left disappointed.

It just makes the fries worse. I want them to be better because of the freshness, but they just aren’t good. I do like a burger and it seems like a great company.
 
It's fast food. So...yeah. I find it quite a bit better than McD's but it doesn't jump into the stratosphere. But I think it is good for what it is.
For the price it is decent. You are paying just about McD price for a burger with lots of lettuce and tomato, grilled bun, etc. It is not 5 guys obviously but it is not priced like one either. I like them.

Remember, gold used to be $35/oz and now it is like what? $2875/oz today? Food won't be the same price obviously.
 
An In-N-Out burger is a FRIED burger with high calorie thousand island (ish) spread. There are a multitude of better chargrilled burgers that are better where I live.

In addition the fries are dried sticks. And that's insulting trees....

On the rare occasion I go to this place I order a cheeseburger with no spread but ketchup, pickle and mustard.
Yes-the hype regarding a mediocre fried burger is amazing.
I regularly eat In-N-Out and Habit, and so I'm going to compare these 2 (no McD or Jack in the Box obviously as they are far behind).

The size of Habit is bigger, patty has more meat flavor and juicier.
The bun of In N Out is fresher and char better, the vegetable especially the lettuce is crunchier and tastier.
Sauce is more runny in Habit.
Onion in In N Out is raw and cooked in Habit.
In N Out is like about 2/3 of the price of Habit.

Personally for me I like In N Out but I know some in my family like Habit better. I like their fries being different and feels less greasy than a typical refried fast food fries. You may not like them because they are definitely very different.


Remember guys, it is a $6 cheese burger in Bay Area the size of McD, not a $10 Habit that's 1/3 to 1/2 bigger, not a $12 Hamburger America burger in NYC. Is Hamburger America better? Sure, but it is also more expensive.

You get what you pay for or these places won't stay in business.

The Habit is charbroilled. The In- N-Out is fried. That's the important difference.

For the price, casual dining is competitive with fast food these days, where there are special deals. Like Buffalo Wild Wings, Applebee’s, or Chili’s.

Absolutely no way on any level does Buffalo Wild Wings, Applebee's, or Chili's deliver the quality ingredients, consistent preparation, service, or overall experience of an In and Out. Not even close.

In and Out is a top tier in its restaurant category. The restaurants you mentioned are "c" league at best. One eats at In and Out because they want to. On a macro basis, one eats at Applebee's, Chili's, and Buffalo Wild Wings because of lack of options.

Coming from a guy who will eat out every meal for 335 days this year, every single meal from breakfast through lunch.

Slight mod on In-N-out onion - you can get it grilled or as an uncooked slice.

Habit is great.

I've been eating at In-N-Out for over 25 years. It's a fast food burger. A decent fast food burger, but still a fast food burger.

If I have the time, I prefer a burger at a casual dining place, as much grief as they get for serving prepared foods.
 
They went corporate. Now I don't see Yum Brands making combo Habit/Taco Bell locations, but they're still under the Yum Brands umbrella now.

I always forget - my "Habit" isn't what you guys are talking about.

"My" Habit is called Hamburger Habit owned and run by the same guy for like 50 years.
