Here is a translated article from Motor Fan Japan on an experimental 2 stroke engine using the 7M block and a 4 cyl diesel block. The diesel version was installed in a Z20 Toyota Soarer, which is related to a Mk3 Supra. It was displayed at the 1989 Tokyo Motor Show.

Quite interesting. I know when Ford was developing the KA for us over here in Europe they were originally planning a small two stroke engine but emissions standards got in the way so they ended up putting the 1.3 Endura-E in it instead. There's a MK3 Fiesta prototype in the Haynes Motor Museum in Yeovil with this engine in.

Detroit Diesel, anyone? except intake ports instead of intake valves.
