No rust to be found on my 2018 Silverado. HOWEVER, so far I've put more money in the gas tank than the purchase price as I'm at 155k miles. LOL!!

No rust. I'm a Krown believer.

One added additional benefit, the Krown seems to keep the factory frame wax "moist" and pliable as I have ZERO PEELING issues like all the GM trucks I see.

Do you prefer a product over Krown? NHOU? Woolwax? Anything else? I'm about to buy a new truck (keeping this one) but I'm considering using another product..... what do you recommend?

Nice! The key to krown is just like you've done. Repeat applications. After maybe 2-3 years in a row, you could skip a year, but it depends on your usage and how things look under there.

Just put down an application of surface shield about a month ago. Took it thru a car wash with brushes and it didn't even touch the surface shield on the receiver hitch. They say it's good for 2 years, we shall see.

Miejer had a buy one can get another 50% off deal but I don't know if it's still valid.

Used Krown for years with good results. I find for me every 2 years works well.

Did you just buy the truck?

This doesn't look like Krown to me. Looks like one of those spray-on paint-based coatings.

You can see overspray on what I assume is the driveshaft?

I use Krown because it's the easiest to find in Canada, but I think the product and application process is dated and it's not the best performing product. It will also destroy your door and trunk seals.

That’s not the driveshaft. Looks like a torsion bar.

looks like krown after years of dirt to me.
Yes krown definitely affects some rubber. it swelled and softened the washer fluid line on the 2020 elantra.. I had to put zipties on the connectors or they blow off from the line pressure.

The door seal on the drivers door is collapsed as well.. but the previous hyundai was worse after 5 years so.. semi-pass on krown for that.

I just sprayed my 05 Silverado with a gallon of surface shield a week ago....it looks thick on that frame. I'll he monitoring it over the winter to see how it holds up.

Yes, it's Krown. I bought the truck new 6 years ago. What you are seeing on the frame is a waxy coating that GM puts on all their trucks.

It's very soft, but dries out after approximately 5 years and begins to peel off the frame. But Krown has kept the factory frame wax in great condition because it's not drying out.

The main thing is using something.

Krown is what the reliable guys use near me.

IF we had rustcheck, FF/woolwax, or NH OIL places I'd consider them as well.

All of them are excellent when re-applied every year.

1.) Krown (Best for creeping into areas)
2.) Wool Wax & Surface Shield (Both a close tie, and very durable. )
3.) Fluid Film (Has a long cult following, works good but does wash off in wheel wells - smells horrible)
4.) New Hamshire Undercoating (Never used it but all my friends that have, love it)

Big fan of all of these "wet" coatings.

Below are pictures of my 2011 Crown Vic that I began coating with fluid film in 2012 when it was less than one year old, before it saw it's first winter. At the time of the photos, it was 12 years old with 105k on it.

I've found this to be true with Krown, FF and WW. It can effect some very soft foam rubber materials like door seals. It softens and swells it. It does not effect hard plastics, wiring insulation/connectors and I have not had it effect hoses, but the only hoses I've gotten these products on (if I can help it) is EVAP stuff.
