You'll notice that tamed/domesticated wild animals tend to look like other domesticated animals after a couple of generations.
Foxes lose some of their red coat and take on 'dog like' hues.

Our local vet (Billinghurst of BAARF fame) had a really nice picture of his tame fox and house cat curled up in front of the fire.

Nice pic.

I asked him about it, and he said the cat and fox were best of friends, until he was late home one night and the fox got hungry.

Another workmate befriended one on his morning walk to the school bus, but could never get it to enter buildings.

I saw a doco on Dwendt44s point. As teh Russians bread the friendliest animals together, they started to throw black and white and lose the red.

No thank you! There are enough of the wild ones around here to be a nuisance!

I'll just take care of my female German Shepherd...who will stand between me and anyone she doesn't know.

I'm not too fond on this...

There's WAY too many excellent, adoptable dogs in shelters the way it is. Mine is about 4 feet from me right now... and he was only $65 out the door.

Every dog that I've ever had was either from a shelter or was a stray. All have been excellent examples.

I live in a suburban area, but ocassionally when I'm driving at night in an area near my house I will spot this fox foyaging near the side of the road. Foxes are very interesting animals.

Have to admit, you're right.

....mine was free, from a family that didn't want to look after him anymore. He's a happy, babied member of the family now!

:D

Same with me, except they are cats, not dogs (personal choice, not important).

I cannot see myself buying an animal when there are so many in need (and if that could stop this silly breeding business).
