You should come north. I think it was 50F when I left home this morning.

Check again in 6 months

It'll be even colder in six months.

Let's see, mid-Dec, 20-30's.

I'm not so anal that I'm worried about micro scratches in paint. But when I heard they use recycled water in these things..…

Well that's just disgusting.

No, but I did take photos of my kids spray painting my car. [I shot some primer on the hood to cover some rust. I let them give it a try too.]

My vehicles are about now ready for the kids to wash though. I have always feared the "drop the sponge and then grind dirt in" but my two Toyotas are probably old enough that it won't matter. The truck has one dent and the Camry worse, so... getting close to beater status I'm afraid.

long sleeves and a wet kid does wonders (since they always want to hug or pet the car...).
now a long hose.... hmmm = waterpark (and maybe your car will get washed)

I don't think suing is the first thought. But if a persons car gets a scratch in the finish from a carwash, the operator is obligated to pay for it. After all....it's a car-wash....not a car-scratcher.

I think some people are confused with my original post, thinking a car wash damaged the car?

No. Somebody ran into the back of it.

You're done with drive-thru car wash because someone hit the back of your car, not because the car wash made a scratch on your car ?

What's next ? You stopped at red light and someone rear ended your car you're done with stopping at red light ?

I CAN avoid going through a car wash that put the next guy 1-2 feet behind your bumper, making it real easy for that idiot to hit it.

I CAN'T avoid being rear-ended at a light, that's obvious. I was rear-ended at a light 3 months ago and my Camry was totaled, now has a salvage title.

I'm lucky I was in the car I was in. The Trailblazer has a tall trailer hitch, his steel bumper hit it.

If I were in any of the other cars I'm always driving - Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Patriot, Dodge Grand Caravan, and the VW Beetles it would have RUINED the rear bumper without a doubt, those cars would be sitting in a body shop right now, and who would be footing the bill?

I posted this as a word of warning to those who care about their cars. If it were your S2000, I'm sure you wouldn't be too happy.

I was having fun with you.

I knew what you meant when you got rear ended in a drive-thru car wash.

There isn't much you can do in some instances, just brush it off and live your live as normal as possible.

I am sure would be very upset if someone rear-ended my S2000 in a drive-thru car wash. But I never had my S2000 there so it never happened. I wash my S2000 by hand at home only once every 3-4 months, most of the times it is in garage under a cover.

Oh lol it's hard to smell sarcasm over the Internet.

You guys are lucky with your weather. We get dust storms all the time, and even when there isn't a storm the dust still rolls in and makes the cars awfully dirty.

Or the Home Depot... My brother's friend got into a fist fight with some guy who started shoving him in the parking lot a few months ago! Went there today though lol.

I'm always at that HD and the only entertaining story I have is walking behind an older couple and listening to the guy complain to his wife about the Bernie stickers he saw on the cars in the lot.

That place is always packed!

Yeah I'm in there all the time, my grandparents live at 22nd St. & Indian School and I'm over there pretty much everyday. I've never seen a Home Depot so packed, especially with contractors and work trucks/vans.

That does, of course, depend on the jurisdiction and wash.

How'm I suppose to know. The only way not to pick up contamination of the sort one can only imagine and some you'd never dream of , is to stay out of car washes.

We don't have car washes here where I've ever seen cars lined up and going through them end to end. Typically a door shuts while one car at a time gets washed.
That was why I had assumed you meant the actual mechanism was doing the damage.
