I don't mean my car tailpipe either. It's an old bad habit, not so much at home, but while driving etc. I quit obviously for health reasons, but to nip it in the bud before I do have a health problem. Teeth will look better, strength will be better, health too, but that's not the whole story. It was more of a philosophical choice. I decided it was stupid and not worthwhile. I analyse people all the time, now it's time to analyse myself and the best advice is: stop smoking!!! It's the right thing to do. Still in the early stages, but once I decide, it's a done-deal. Also, I can one-up my buddies who still smoke. It's a win-win. Yay!

Audie Junkie,
take the money that you would have spent on smokes, and secret it away somewhere.

Then go out and have a nice dinner with the proceeds.

Good deal!!! It's a hard road but it's well worth it. The first few weeks are the hardest but after that it gets easier. Smoking is just a bad deal all the way around.

As a reformed smoker I really hate smoking, and I wish I could get my wife to stop.

I may be joining you soon. I've been thinking about this lately, but I've yet to "take the plunge". I'm trying to talk my wife into quitting too.

Ziban - which is Wellbrutrin in a more expensive label (one is for depression = the other for smoking they are identical) will ease any anxiety of withdrawal for those on prescription plans. It makes it much easier. One of the side effects is nasty smelling gas due to some chemical component in the medication.

They found that during clinical trails that a high number of subjects quit smoking as a result. They didn't know why ..then they conducted the trail as a smoking cessation aid ..and it worked very well.

You can go nuts without anxiety with Ziban

I quit using Zyban back in July of 1999. Haven't smoked since. Just remember that an ex-smoker is like an alcoholic. You can't ever touch another tobacco product. No snuff, chew, pipes, cigars. Nothing ever.

I quit about 17 years ago. I put them down one day and never picked them back up. I had been a 2+ pack per day smoker before that.

You have to be mentally ready to do it. I was surprised at how easy it was once I had my mind made up though. I don't miss the stinky clothing, yellow fingers, mess, etc.

My parents still are heavy smokers and we try not to visit their home unless we have no other choice. When we do, once we get home we have to strip and wash the clothes we were wearing and take showers to get rid of the smell. Ugh.

I smoke a couple times a week.

Usually it's getting smoked by the fellows in the bike club. Last Night I "smoked" them for a few miles. We were tooling on the flats at 28mph. (The pro's ride over 30)

Man what an aerobic base. I can ride 50 mile at over 20mph. So much for the cigs, I'd rather be a "smoking" bicyclist.

As Samuel Jackson would say, "Good #$%&!@$&%*$%# choice $#%&#@*&%$@#!"
I quit when I was about 22 or so and never looked back.
My wife even quit when she left Japan.

I had skipped heartbeats at the age of 34. Thed heart specialist said that I was "playing with fire by continuing to smoke". I never smoked another cig after that and started running. Its been over 25 years now. Fear is a great incentive.

Thanks. My hope here is that some other memebers will also see the light. (pun intended)

I never smoked but I had a nasty copenhagen habit... I really had to want to quit before I could. Once you make up your mind that this is for real and you are going to quit you have one most the battle... watch that subconcious, it will try to play tricks on you in the first few days.

Congratulations, enjoy being a non-smoker. I finally quit a number of years ago after more than 20 years of smoking, don't have any urges and don't miss it. I manage to enjoy a good cigar once in a blue moon, but don't miss it either.

I smoked for 8 years and tried to quit for 6 of them . Got the patch used it for a few weeks and that was 5 years ago have not had another since. Smoking for all of those years is also the thing I regret most in life I'm just glad I quit when I did.
