I need new tires - around $120 each - any cheaper options?

We bought these for the Palisaide about three months ago at Firestone. They were $680 OTD. They've been perfectly fine in wet and dry.

Also, I noticed that the tire companies use their best stuff on their more expensive tires--the tires that scored the highest in braking tests were inevitably 80K mile tires.
Not true? find me an 80k tire that outbrakes my dws06+ in the wet?

What about Extreme Contact Sport or Pilot Sport 4S?
They are probably 30K tires and are even better at braking in dry and wet than any 80K.

Since winter seems all but over how would you compare the value Prinx 1 vs Cross Climate 2? I will be needing new tires for next winter. I can get a set of Prinx for less $400. The CC2 would close $900 maybe more. I know you said the CC2 were better in the snow but would you say they are worth the $500 extra in your experience?
CC2 better but not $900. No experience on longevity though on Prinx.

If you can take the time to consider a counter opinion here, I used to buy the cheapest, 40K mile tires I could find at AT, but then it hit me that I was buying tires (and paying installation & lifetime rotation expenses) a lot more often, than I would if I was to buy 80K mile warranty tires. I moved to 80K mile tires, and I also get a nice prorate on my new set. Have you actually gotten close to those mileage figures, though? I purchased some Michelins for my Wife's 4Runner and the tread seemed to last a good while but there were significant cracks in the sidewalls. On my truck I purchased some Conti LX20s with 70k treadwear. I am at about 25k miles and I seriously doubt I will get more than 50k out of them. I am religious about rotation and tire pressures. I don't hot rod the thing either.

Typically I look for deals on Walmart and then have Discount / American Tire price match them.

For your size I had used Kumho LX Platinum in the past on the front of IS250 because the UTQG is high and it has factory alignment tirewear issue, and I just put the cheapest of the cheap with low UTQG on the rear as they wear out about the same time. They are staggered size so I can't rotate them front to back. Works out well for me.

Not at all. The most I've ever gotten was just over 50% on some old Goodyear Assurance tripletreads (on my Sienna). The worst I think was Cooper CS5s--I got 24K out of those on my Sienna. Religiously rotated, usually every 5K, and those Coopers were aired up every few months as well.

What helps me out, though, is timely rotations at AT, so I get great prorate. If I didn't get any prorate, I'd probably drop down to lower mileage warrantied, & cheaper tires. Or I'd try some without any warrantied mileage at all. But with the prorate, it makes sense for me to pony up for the 80K tire.

hey guys thanks for the help, i didnt realize i only needed two tires. I forgot I didnt buy a full set last time. So i just went with my usual bfgoodrich comp as2 plus. the other two tires have a good 15k or so left on em

Had good luck with Walmart-only Goodyear branded. When I went in all they had in stock was Douglas. The ones that used to be Kelly's. Not sure what the wear will be but so far I've been pleased. Seems to be better than the Douglas's of a decade ago.
