He ramrods a fire sprinkler installation crew for a living. He has a fairly broad experience base for manual/trade labor type stuff for his age. I think this is the longest he's stayed at one job (since I've known him).

It's not so much his talent as it is his disposition towards stuff. It's all wrapped around what's fun for him. If you can find something "fun" ..and I don't care what it is ..he'll try and experience it in earnest. I can see him just as easily "noodling" (at least once) as I could see him snowboarding ...whatever. He's got a hunger for that type of thing.

He also has a thing for outdoor grilling and it still energetic enough to go to the trouble to assure that he can take it with him.

Someone has:

1) a welding machine,

and

2) too much time on their hands. . .

No, ek, it's more like Nature's way of saying that money collects no dust in his wallet. Luckily he keeps his debt fairly shallow. If they have any true ..hmmm ..life buffering in terms of security ..she's the one who will be doing that. Thank goodness he isn't lazy.

It took him a month to finish that with his other activities. Like most, he would benefit from a 30 hour day and a 10 day week.

I admire those who know themselves well enough to "take life by the horns" and go for what they want, rather than live lives of quiet, unfulfilling desperation (if that is your attitude, what is the point?)

I didn't always have such a high opinion of him. He has turned out to be a very nice guy and he treats my daughter very well. Actually, they go out of their way to treat each other very well. I am normally of the opinion that people don't change, per se~, but he's given me cause to rethink this a bit. Not that he was majorly defective or anything ..it's just sometimes people need to find the right circumstances to bring out the best in them.

A Thoreau fan, I see.

"The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation. What is called resignation is confirmed desperation." - From Walden

I do not have a married daughter to appreciate the inherent relational challenges, but that there is worth quoting.
