Get a grip, people! The NOACK is out of 'spec' by a whole FOUR percent, and you act like the guy's engine will explode.

Dude, just use the stuff! If you find yourself losing sleep, simply check the oil level periodically to make sure it hasn't all evaporated.

Is that site even legit?? It looks like a high school assignment. Who conducted the tests? How accurate is their testing equipment?

Likely true, but what I find ironic here is that some that outright agree, won't/don't even use dino or even anything other than boutique oil's in there own vehicle and even that with multiple UOA's and short OCI's. For myself, I find this topic question no more absurd than multiple thread starters related to the latter with oil selection. IMO, 'getting a grip' could easily be applied to them. Just sayin.

Actually find it more relevant to the average individual using dino. And it does raise the question, why with so many relatively inexpensive name brand dino's like QS, MC5K, HavDS and MC SynB, would one choose a store brand?

fwiw, the testing site looks very 'legit' to me. Don't know of any high school doing this kind of work.

If you look at any group of oils, or just the rating for simplicity (SL, SM, etc), most of the leading brands seem to me more similar than different.

The fun is in experimenting with the different oils to find the subtle differences they may have on the individual's vehicle (or in some cases here, fleet). That's probably at least partially what prompts the short OCIs and VOAs.

For me it is, anyway.

Then there is the quest some embark on for the holy grail - or perfect oil, which would also account for the above

In the case of the OP, I read it as his being cheap (or "thrifty", so as not to offend).

Here's an idea: Give it to my friend in Palmdale with an oil-burning Saturn. He'll gladly run it until he runs through it.

For some curious reason the report is not on their home/index page. Hmmmm

Ya thats what I mean. I have the site saved and check it often but this report is no where to be found.

No, what Chris was referring to and I discovered, is the fact that the most recent test/report highlighting the failed 5w30 oils is not available on their Home/index page. The other oil test/reports are there, but not these latest reports showing the failed oils.

Apparently there is another less common page here (in my previous post), that is not considered the home page because when one clicks on "Home" it directs away from the recent results.

Chris went to the clickable "Home" page and couldn't find the recent results information listed. I found it curious that the recent results showing the failed oil are not available on the common home page. Thus the Arte Johnson reference.

fyi, I don't believe the tested 10w30 failed.
