Long story short... the ex finally moved her furniture out (including the couch) so I needed a replacement. I spent almost a month with just a recliner, digging through ads and Craigslist hoping to find something that would suit the need. I do 99% of my movie and TV watching in the living room, and I've spent several thousand over the years building up a decent home theater, minus the seating.

I've purchased several items at Furniture Mart (Ashley Furniture) in the past, they're always competitively priced given the markup on furniture and they have a great selection. I wandered in on my day off, not expecting to find anything but low and behold I found this gem:

Exuse the messy house...

This couch quite literally checked every box I had on my list. Leather, brown, 3 position seating. Plus a few more...

Oh yea! Power recline and power headrest adjustment on the outer chairs, storage in both armrests, lighted cup holders (ok, not on the list but cool regardless), fold down center console with additional cup holders, 2x 120v grounded outlets + 2x USB charging ports, and last but not least map lights.

Best of all? It was on clearance. Brand new, out the door price $1,100 plus tax. I rented a van from Home Depot to bring the box home and set it up myself, saved the delivery fee and the HD van had some issues so I got the rental fee dropped to $15.

All in all, I couldn't be more satisfied! This thing makes the movie experience so much better, just in time for the new subwoofer I got!

Don't spend too much time on it. Or you will grow fat.

Fancy Schmancy!

We just got a new place and wanted to get a new sectional or a fancier couch, but it's not in the budget. We're going to make our $500 Bob's Discount Furniture last a few more years.

Note: Little does my wife know, I'm going to try to keep this couch until our kid (and future kids, possibly) are out of the house!

Growing up, we kept our couch together with angle brackets and screws! Cushions smelled like dad's butt! lol

You can always rent a Big Green Carpet cleaner from Lowes with upholstery attachment for around $30. If the butt smell gets to be too much.

There's no getting around hard-working dad-stank. We didn't have that kind of technology in the 90's!

Agreed.
Also, make sure to post pics of any you may be considering, so as to let us help you decide.

Never buy Ashley furniture from an Ashley Showcase store, without using price match.

We just bought an Ashley reclining leather couch and recliner for $1800 online. The best price at non-Ashley stores was $2000. The price at Ashley's website was $2100. The local Ashley Showcase store price was $2800 (all in), apples-to-apples.

Dayton Audio SUB-1500

I upgraded from a Pioneer SW8-MKii to a Dayton Audio SUB-1500. Only went from 100 watts to 150 watts, but having a 15" driver vs. an 8" made all the difference. I have an amazing speaker set and the sub was always a weak point. The Dayton POUNDS. I might buy a second one, at $189.99 shipped I almost have to.

No worries about the GF, a new one has arrived and she's wonderful! 5'4 with just the right curves in just the right places!
