That said IMO you will be fine at 10k; too many guys going 10k and beyond with synthetic for your easy-on-oil engine to not be able to do the same.
IIWM every 5K and a nightly Xanax so you can really sleep well.
If 2 wise groups are divided on 5K and 10K, I go for 7.5K

According to the maintenance schedule posted near the beginning, Toyota says 5000/6 months for severe service.
Footnote #1 says "If 0W-20 oil WAS NOT used at the last oil change, replace engine oil and oilfilter." So they allow 10,000/12 months with 0W-20 AND non-severe driving conditions, or 5000/6 months otherwise.
The owner's manual for my newly-acquired 2018 Corolla recommends 0W-20, but allows 5W-20 to be used in a pinch if you switch back to 0W next time. Somebody on this site speculated that the 0W requirement is a way to specify "full synthetic" oil.
I don't know how straight it is, but I'll add one more answer. In my Toyota, I plan to use on-sale synthetic 0W or 5W-20 for somewhere between 5000 and 7500 miles. That's with mixed driving biased toward city miles in a climate that gets hotter than it does cold.

Toyota does some testing, but for sure they didn't run a statistically significant number of engines for the equivalent of at least 10,000 miles to determine that no significant damage will occur (or more precisely that the probability of engine failure is below what they consider to be a remote probability) . So Toyota's recommendation more than just a wild guess.
