Hybrid versus standard full synthetic

You read my earlier comment in this thread? Look, the thickest 0w16 that I know of is Amsoil Signature Series which is 8 centistokes at 100° C. Mobile 1 Advanced fuel economy 0w-20, truck and suv 0w20, and hybrid 0w20 are 8.2. Do you see what I'm saying? A difference of 0.2 centistokes. If that 0.2 gives you peace of mind, then go right ahead lol. But Amsoil signature series 0w16 is unique, most 0w16 oils are not that thick. Mobil 1 Advanced fuel economy 0w16 is 7.6
There isn't as much of a difference, as you say. I'll just go to 5k mile OCIs and stick to 0w16 then. The OEM seems to be Idemitsu, which is ... rather thinner. 6.677 at 100 C.

I had some of the Idemitsu 0w-16 in my 2024 Subaru and it sounded like a typewriter on steroids, then 0w-20 now 5w-30 PUP , and sounds much better, and mpg is still around 30-36 in town, will use the 0w-20 PUP in winter though just to be safe.

How do you know ? Have you pulled your Pistons out and looked at the rings ? Everybody says just like new , till it isn't

Boy you got me there.... Gotta look at them rings to know overall engine health. Pulling the drain plug would tell you way more.
