I just got a replacement plastic handle for my comfort grip Snap-On ratchet, but it doesn't look straight-forward and easy to replace. My instinct is to stick it in boiling water to soften it up, but I don't want to screw it up. My German Shepherd puppy (well, she was a puppy 3 years ago) chewed up the handle. Anyone do one of these?

Boiling water would be a good start. Don't baptize the internals and you shouldn't mess anything up.

Here's what I did: I clamped the end of the old handle in the vise, then put a large deepwell socket on the ratchet so I could use it as a handle. I just pulled the old handle off and replaced it with the new one by just pushing it on (against the garage floor).
