How to post a picture

I would recommend uploading the pics to photobucket. I use Flickr also, but have never figured out how to post a pic from there...

Once you get the pic uploaded, go to your album, double-click the "img code" under your pic (you'll see the word "copied" appear), and paste (Ctrl-V) wherever you want the pic in your thread.

It took what seemed like "forever" to figure out how to do this. There was much frustration involved, but once you do it, you'll see how simple it really is.

Yeah, you will need to "host" the pics on a website somewhere, then attach the web link to the pics here using IMG (image) tags. It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

Pic hosts - http://www.photobucket.com (requires you to open a free account first but an excellent host), http://www.imageshack.us (no account required, probably the simplest pic host out there), http://picasa.google.com/ (good choice if you're already a Google user)

Once you've uploaded your pics to the host, you will get a URL that links back to the image you just uploaded. Copy and paste that URL here in a post with
after it. The image should appear once you submit the post to the forum.

If the image is too large or hard to see, you can adjust the image size at the host. Consider an image size of 800x600 which is comfortably viewed on almost any computer screen. A little bigger is OK but not too big or its too much for a laptop screen to display.

Try it right here for practice. The process is pretty much the same on any internet forum. Here's a pic of a real heads-up driver on I-85, taken with my camera phone and hosted at my Photobucket account:

Not unless my my Motobecane bike is considered a Cobra.......

Ok looks like a do it yourself picture posting process. Thanks for the info.

I was going to say heads up??? Until I saw the rim, Wow!

Another key idea is that if you've shot a high res picture, before you post it, use a photo manipulation program of your choice to cut it down to a size that's manageable for forum viewing. Somewhere around 500 to 600 pixels wide seems to work for me. If you set your software to auto-proportion, it will take care of the vertical dimensions by itself.

At photobucket, under the "My Album" heading... You will see all the pics that you have uploaded, and under each pic you will see four options. Email & IM, Direct Link, HTML Code, and IMG Code. Under the picture that you want to post, double-click in the window directly to the right of the words "IMG Code," and the word "Copied" will appear in a yellow window with black text. The word "Copied" will appear only for a moment. Now in your post, just right-click and paste or use CTRL-V. You don't add anything to it, as the code will automatically be there. Then your picture will show up in the post.

Hope this helps.
