So you bent the governor spring? It's half spring, half straight right. Just put a slight (SLIGHT) bend in the straight part. Repeat if needed.

Not talking about the throttle cable right. I am confused as usual. That's what my wife says...and my daughter...and my other daughter...and my grand kids...and the mail man...and the lady down the street...

no- bent the tab toward the front of the mower that the spring hooks onto.

On a lot of Briggs engines, the bendable tab can get out of whack by bumping the mower into an object while you're mowing. Just bend it back until the rpm's sound right.
