I have a Generac generator that does more siting than any thing and I am wondering if your media in the oil filter deteriorates any over time. How often should I change the oil filter on it, and what would be the best filter recommendation for me. I am currently using a Wix 51394. Thank you for all the help.

Generally once a year is a good rule of thumb on small power equipment that does not get a lot of hours on it. You have more of an issue of water moisture building up when not being used than anything else.
The WIX you called out will do you fine. For that matter, any modern oil filter will last a year or more when not in use.
