How much longer?

Clutch is almost gone. Starting to slip out of some gears when accelerating.

If i nurse it how much longer might i have? Ball park? Anyone have this experience?

I understand that there are no guarantees.

Also, i'm guessing that when i slip out of gear while accelerating that it is really wearing out the clutch bad? Is that correct?

I ask because the car is not worth a new clutch. Much smarter to just pick up a used car. Otherwise i'd buy a clutch immediately so as not to harm the transmission (which oddly enough cost less than a new clutch -- go figure).

When did you last changed clutch fluid ? If you didn't change it for a long time and can DIY flushing clutch fluid now, it may prolong the life of the clutch a few more years.

years? might i have that long?

Also, i don't believe that i have "clutch fluid" but "transmission fluid." Same thing, right?

Slipping out of gears might not be a clutch problem, likely it's something internal.

Thanks. But i don't think that the car is even worth 110 bucks blue book. It's been totaled twice and has lots of probs.

I'm pretty sure your manual transmission fluid is 30 weight engine oil and your clutch is a cable-operated type clutch.
So, there's no clutch fluid to replace, because you don't have a hydraulically-operated clutch.
