What is AMZN prime current membership renewal? I received the following on a credit card bill " AMAZON PRIME CONS SEATTLE WA", for $150.38. A google search of " AMAZON PRIME CONS SEATTLE WA" states it is prime renewal.

Is that accurate- AMZN prime renewal is now $150.38?

BTW- screw autopay--- any place that wants autopay for subscriptions is likely a dirty player.

That sounds about right for one year. I typically only sign up for 1 couple months during holiday season and then back to no prime membership. It's like $13-15 a month during those time.

I always cancel the autorenews
and if applicable put it in the calendar app when to cancel the actual service
(siriusxm etc)

There may be tax on it so 150 is probably legit.
+1 This. I give myself a 5 to 7 day notice and add "cancel by" to the reminder.

Amazon has a pretty short reminder window if i recall correctly, 3 days notice. And you have to add the reminder via the membership page - it's not sent automatically.

In my life, the convenience it gives while managing two households and Prime Video still makes it well worth the cost. Often if I don’t need something asap I opt for the slow shipping and accumulate quite a bit of digital credits.

Sounds about right. I ditched mine a couple years ago, or whenever you had to start paying extra for commercial free prime videos. Scam.

Mr. Bezos's loss - Walmart ships for free and almost always a couple days. If you order non prime they will purposely hold your order. Jeff Bezos occasionally gives me a free week or month of prime thinking I will forget to cancel, but I put it on my list to do.

I do own a bunch of AMZN stock I bought in April. Feel free to call me a hypocrite, but all you need to keep paying. :ROFLMAO:

Amazon Prime is an incredible value even at $140/year. Where else can I order something at 8 PM for $4 and have it on my front porch between 4 AM - 8 AM the next morning?

At what price does AMZN prime no longer be a value proposition?

" Looking at the historical pricing gives useful perspective: the jump from US$ 79 in 2005 to US$ 139 in 2022 represents significant inflation over ~17 years — about a 76% increase in nominal dollar terms, not accounting for inflation. Meanwhile, the benefits and services have also broadened substantially."

It depends how often you use the service. My time is invaluable. I can drive around picking stuff up or use that time towards something more productive and have Amazon place all those goods in my garage for me.

Value is always vis a vis.

I was a fairly early adopter of Prime. I lived in a small town in South Carolina, I travelled all week, and my wife also worked - and we had two little kids in school. Free 2 day shipping or overnight for I think $3.99 was amazing at the time for all the crap you need to run a family.

Fast forward - there are plenty of competitors. Walmart for free - $35 minimum which is nothing. Its usually same day or next day. If you want a $4 item add some toilet paper and trash bags and voila.

There streaming is really poor compared to what it used to be. They used to have free music and add free TV. Nothing is free anymore - even with prime - you either watch adds or pay more.

I would say there living off there fan base at this point. However AWS is the biggest cloud computing company - so that is likely there long term game plan. I could see the company splitting at some point in the future.

Will $1299 annually for AMZN prime be a match for you? At what point is the juice not worth the squeeze? I would suspect AMZN prime annual cost should not above the rate of inflation. As more people subscribe, AMZN prime should actually be a candidate for reduced annual fees.

I don't care. I am paying AMZN prime--- but find the cost a bit surprising.

Door Dash is a great example (I have never used a Door Dash like service). DD could likely raise their fees to the consumer 25 percent tomorrow, and not lose a measurable number of customers. As long as the credit card has credit available, cost takes a back seat to convenience in many peoples assessment.

$1,299 is a far cry from $140.

Now Doordash is a complete ripoff. I won a $150 gift card for them back in April so I downloaded the app and tried the service while traveling and staying at hotels when I didn't rent a car. The pricing is completely absurd and I think I over tipped on my last delivery and it got paired with a no tip order that got delivered first. Food arrived cold. That order used up the GC and I deleted my account and uninstalled the app.

IMO, Amazon Canada is hardly worth using at all anymore as their prices are rarely the lowest, and in the country, prime shipping is 1-2 days, and free shipping is 2-3 days, but usually 2.

I dunno, I just don't find I need too many simple widgets by the next morning?

And anything remotely complex or rare is nearly impossible to find on amazon now, as they have purposefully re-designed their search engine and web page layout, to not work well, and waste my time... So I don't use them very much anymore.

If you add up Prime Reading free books, Prime Video, the store card discount, and the fast no minimum shipping it's well worth it for us.

I just checked Canadian rate, it's C$99.99 per year. Mine is up for renewal in Feb., not sure if I wanna renew, pretty much only reason we have it wife's watching prime TV. I have prime subscription at work which company pays for and I normally ship to work to eliminate risk of stolen packages.

Amazon pioneered this concept, and boiled the frog 1 degree at a time. It was $79 for free 2 day shipping, then $99 for next day, they added streaming and music and books along the way and went to $119, then got to $139 in the pandemic when money was easy and supply was low.

Since they have been taking stuff away - like the free music, and then free cloud storage went away, then added commercials to streaming. I left then, but I think most people don't even think about it.

I wonder how many pay annually vs per month?
