I bought some cordless phones at radio shack a few weeks ago. One of the batteries failed. So I went to radio shack to buy a new battery.which btw is just 2 rechargable AAA batteries soldered together. I about hit the floor when I saw that they wanted $18 for the replacements!

Ill buy some rechargables and solder them together myself.

Are you sure they will work right by doing that? OE specs, etc?

I would not solder them the heat may ruin them. I would guess the ones you have a spot welded, which does not generate a lot of heat.

I found it cheaper to buy new cordless phones than batteries.

Didn't the phone come with at least a 90-day warranty? Why don't you request RS give you a new battery for free?

Just buy them online. I've purchased 1/2 dozen for what places like Rat Shack wants for one, including the shipping.

If one of the 6 doesn't work, I'm still money ahead.
