How many professions are affected by the rain?

Anything construction and maintenance related that isn’t crucial will shut down in rain, and even if crucial, work will stop if lightning hits within 10 miles of most petrochemical plants. i’ve been working in plants in different capacities for 10 years.

Whenever it starts raining, everyone starts ordering pizza for delivery. Doesn't matter what time of day. I'd be out on a run, t-storm hits, I get back and there's like 6 orders to go on a Tuesday at like 230pm, which was terrible because there was usually only one driver on.
Hope they are giving you “ red alert” tips for delivering pizza during thunderstorms, or when lightening is close by. 🙂

Boy, are you looking for trouble here with that thread title. But, I get it. Worked on the railroad, nothing stopped us. When, I switched to commuter busses into Manhattan and I had the sick time I would call out at the drop of a hat in bad weather. One accident, with 57 passengers, could end your career and your pension. Not worth the risk.

In my past life I was police officer. As soon as drop of rain fell from the sky, the radio runs for car accidents would come in. People wonder why I drive slow and cautious. Respond to 1000 accidents and you will learn that people can't drive. You will also learn that most people lie as to cause of the accident.
As a retired firefighter when it rained, especially lightly after an extended dry spell, we just walked towards the trucks in anticipation of the deluge of wrecks to come.

The police don't drive slow in my area

when it rains and storms, lightning and wind is a real threat to crane operators and riggers,,often the boom on the mobile crane is lowered in stormy weather and shuts down to whole operation.

I work in it all.

Fewer things are worse than being in a bucket truck in single digit windy snowy weather.
