How many of you use Meguiar's NXT?

Chimay, I have a Simoniz 8" orbital buffer, and it is nice and compact and easy to use. It was only $20!

I just went out into the garage to put some of my father's day gifts into my car, and after looking over my car again, I think it does look a bit shinier to me now! I need to see it in direct sunlight now, since yesterday was cloudy all day. So that's really not the best way to judge how a finish looks.

One thing which does kind of bother me is how the NXT package claims that this wax is Meguiar's longest lasting wax, but yet the general consensus from most NXT users is that it does not last very long at all. Although now that I can wax so much faster with this new buffer, I don't mind doing it more often. I'll do anything to make sure I don't see as many of the very fine scratches in my black paint.

I've been reading some of the testimonials on the Meguiar's website http://www.meguiars.com and some people mentioned how they don't get fingerprints on their paint anymore, and some mentioned how it helps keep the dust from sticking to the finish. I'm very interesting in finding out if both of those are true or not!

I also find it funny how some people have mentioned they think that $15 for wax is expensive! How much do you guys usually pay for wax in the US? That price is much better than ours, I paid $30 Canadian for mine. But with the buffer I find I don't use nearly as much wax, so I can probably get more than 15 coats out of one bottle of NXT. Zaino Z2 costs around $25 or 30 for one bottle too, and it's a much smaller bottle. (8oz compared to 18 for NXT)

I paid about $15.00 for the NXT at PEP Boys, and no I don't think it was expensive. I have never tried Zaino. The wax I used last time was Meguiars Gold Class Liquid which I think I prefer over NXT.

Today will be the true test (driving my 54 mile round trip in rush hour to work and back) but in my driving yesterday my paint didn't seem to attract very much dust to it at all! I usually need to break out my California Car Duster twice a day, so we'll see if that is the case today.

So far I'm getting more impressed with this product! And today is finally a sunny day so I can truly see how the shine looks. It was cloudy the entire day yesterday.

I'm happy to say that there was a lot less dust than usual on my car yesterday and this morning. So this stuff definitely does a good job in that regard.

Just with my experience with NXT, thin coats are the key. I to was getting some streaking, but I was using too much product. I like using NXT, and for a topper, some Meg's 26. Has a nice glow.

Cheers!

Based on Pat's recommendations and comments, I just picked up a bottle of NXT myself. Being a synthetic wax, I don't expect the shine to last too long, but I've heard good things about the results it gives.

I did use thin coats actually, since I put it on with my buffer. I find with the buffer I don't need to use nearly as much wax.

After about 10 days, my car is all dusty again even though I waxed the car. It is possible to draw stuff on my paint with my fingers already. So yes, dust does stick to the wax. Also there's areas where it looks like something rubbed the dust off (wind perhaps) and looks sort of weird.

I have 2000 Toyota Camry beige color.

I did notice that the car wasn't much different than with a coat of Mother's Gold paste wax except that it looked like the swirls weren't as visible in the paint.

The NXT wax isn't exactly dust free, it just clumps up into bigger pieces instead of fine dust when I take the wax off. I could be using more than recommended though because some parts turned white soon after application.

BTW, $15 is a bit much for a can of wax. Usually Mother's wax runs about $10 for a can. I am refering to paste wax that comes in a metal tin for both waxes.

I love Zaino but in my opinion a great second choice is Liquid Glass.
Synthetic polymers such as Zaino,LG,Klasse etc last much longer than carnauba waxes.
On many auto forum boards NXT looks great initailly but doesn't last too long.

I find that NXT builds up an additional gloss overnight as it cures. You look at it again the NXT day and you think that your mother-in-law must have come over during the night and buffed it again for you just like how she buffs the dishes a second time after you have already dried them. It does lose some of that gloss over time but continues to bead water really well so it must be still protecting the paint.

NXT is great for daily drivers and provides decent longevity. I find that using the booster in conjunction with NXT, that it does last somewhat longer as well as helping to retain the look and slickness of freshly applied NXT. It also does a good job of hiding light marring or swirls with a couple application spaced about 24 hours apart.

Yeah, all-around it does a decent job. I like it better than Mother's Synwax. The NXT spray wax is decent for touch ups, too, and I'm not a big fan of anything using the words "spray" and "wax" in the name. I do not like the NXT interior spray, it is harder to work with and really greasy. But if you love shine, it will certainly give you that. Megiuars makes a foaming dash/interior that I found was much easier to work with, but that's another story.

As for it being expensive, it does not seem expensive to me, but then again I get a discount. People wince when they come up to the counter with tire care, wax, glass, and interior products, coupled with towels and stuff, and they find just how quickly things add up. So yeah, I do end up selling your regular $6-8 waxes. What can I say, not everyone loves their cars equally.

But less costly liquid wax is still better than spray-only waxing, which is in turn a million times better than the "My car gets washed when it rains" attitude.

I used it on dad's old black Miata with excellent results. The car has been neglected for years and recently buffed out. It was full of swirl marks and not very shiny.

It really looks good right now. I tried the NXT on a small section first and compared it to the other waxes I have. The NXT looks better!

Ditto on the overnight thing. This stuff's streaky look goes away overnight.

Two coats seems to be required.

just nxt'd the harley. the color is luxury blue and diamond pearl. looks real nice. i put it on thin, and didn't get any powder residue. i keep it waxed, usualy new finish, or good old turtle, so i washed it first with a strong concentration of dawn dishwashing detergent twice first. not sure about the durability, but thats not that big an issue for me as i wax often, i actualy like detailing the bike. i use the nxt speed detailer on my zrx. i havn't washed the bike yet. i just use the speed detailer on the bike after it cools and then put in the garage. being a wimpola, i seldom ride in the rain, unless i get caught in it while already out, so the bike realy doesn't acumulate lots of crud. it also seemed to do a nice job on the chrome, although i still think the old turtle wax chrome polish does the nicest job.

One thing I've learned about NXT, you can put multiple coats on it in a relatively short time. The more coats, of course, the deeper the shine. I use this stuff once last year on our black Accord. Notice where I'm from, you want to talk about sun baking......car is outside M-F and in the garage over the weekends. Car still looks excellent! Even when I wash it now, water still beads up as if I first washed it. Now lets talk about the actual washing.....this is 60% hand and 40% high pressure sprayer. I am totally impressed with this stuff. I've used on my 01 F150, which is black, my boat that is dark red and our Seadoo, which is half white and half gold. Surfaces are still smooth as my baby girls butt. It has cut down on my car care regiment expensively, while maintaining a really good shine and protection.
I'm not as particular about the finish as others are here. I don't wax my car 30 times in 3 years, but I do care about how it looks. My stuff has to look good or I get rid of it. I basically do the water test, when water quits beading up like from that of a fresh wax job, then it's due for one. One thing about the Honda and the bugs, I get tons of them on the front end. Unless you wax a lot, I'm sorry, but with the heat and bright sun, bugs are going to bake on your finish and you'll have to do some scrubbing to get them off. I've never had a wax that could do other wise. I'm talking lots of bugs here.

schmoe, i swear the nxt even seems to have bought out the metalflake in the dark blue part of the bike..it's two tone. i'll have to let my brother know about the jst ski application,he has some kind of yamaha, supposed to be real fast, and sits two or three people. he usualy rides in brackish water. i know some folks cringe hearing the name, but have ya tried a bra for the front end of the accord? some look good, some, well, i guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder! lol. i actualy bought another bottle of the speed detailer today. do you think it affords enough protection standing alone, spritzed on the zrx after each ride, without the nxt wax base?
dunno.gif

I've never used the speed detailer. Like I said, the NXT is working just perfectly for me. Super happy with it. I even put it on my black Ludwig drum set, looks even better. I wanted to put a bra on it, but the wife vetoed that one and I have read some things that they will mar the finish over time. I'd rather have a few rock dings than a total faded front end.
I had my boat in our famous "red dirt" lakes, and I tell you, it took a long time to clean it off. Won't be doing that anymore. But, that was before using NXT, I would imagine that it would come off easier, but dirt water is still going to stick to the hull. Kind of hard to wax down there.

The speed detailer is great for in-between touch ups. But I'd at LEAST use the spray wax to put something more protective down on the paint. Normally I'm not a big spray wax fan, but this stuff is OK.

probably a good suggestion alex. will put coat on the kawa, then use the nxt speed detailer for quickies or touch ups. thanks.
