on your multimedia system in your car??!

I have it on both cars; it's much easier to keep the screen without a finger prints, smudges or scratches

so how about you?

interesting idea we protect phones that we trade in every 2 years but not a car screen that might be around 15years.

In my experience, screen protectors mainly are for when a device (i.e. phone) gets dropped. Can't drop the infotainment system.

That said, I've often thought about putting one on ours. I'm not going to look for one that's larger and try to cut it to size though. I don't know that anyone makes them custom-fit either.

When was the last time you put your car screen in your pocket and rubbed it against your keys or accidentally dropped it? :)
When is the last time that the screen started showing odd wear and fingerprints that wouldnt come off..
(my jeep uconnect looked badddd) 4 years old.

It looked like someone tried to clean it with acetone.. (I always used tint safe automotive window cleaner on a microfiber)

This is one reason I'm not a fan of touch screens in cars - my OCD goes into overdrive when I see fingerprints. Wife's Q5 doesn't have a touch screen, the screen has never been cleaned other than occasional dusting off with an MF towel, and after 9 years it still looks like new. My Charger had a touch screen and I would end up cleaning the screen after nearly every drive because the prints would drive me nuts, but it looked fine after 3 years. It never crossed my mind to install a screen protector.

it's not that you really need it; its just like any other add on to your daily driver such as tinted windows, ceramic paint protection, external protection film, tire shine, etc etc

bottom line, screen protector helps and it is a good to have it

from my experience, chances are, your multimedia screen is not the latest and greatest in comparison to lets say iP14

I have found, the protector helps in visual department, like screen states intact longer and cleaner, screen is stronger, no dead pixels after long use per say, no fading colors at direct sunlight, less glare in the sun too i'd say

also, could you imagine the look of that monster screen at Tesla products daily or later down the road, or even try to eat the fries and play with the screen at the same time 😀

Does anyone use a protector on resistive touch screen without sacrificing some sensitivity? Capacitive touch screens are easier to outfit without any noticeable performance loss.

My Grand Cherokee is an old school resistive touch screen, idk that it can scratch easy. I don't see smudges either. The Sonata just got a cheap Jensen Apple CarPlay radio. I don't really care enough.

I had bought one for my Tesla but never installed it before I sold it.

I don't have one on my Mazda as the features on the screen can be controlled by what they call a Command Knob on the center console. The screen does have touch control capability but it only works if the car is stationary so I have never used it that way.

On the other hand, the screen on my Jaguar has to be touched to access many of the functions so it gets fingerprints quickly. I did install a screen protector on that car. And like others I keep a small spray bottle with eyeglass cleaner and a small MF towel stashed behind the passenger seat to clean the screen or my sunglasses if needed.

My only car with a screen is my WRX but since I don't use navigation or really any of the other features on it I've only touched it a couple of times. So I clean it if it gets dusty but that's about it. I hate screens with smudges on them so that works for me.

Fortunately I don't have a '22 because it now has a screen as big as my dining table, and a whole lot more functions are controlled by it.

My concern about these screen protectors is installation. Every car with a screen I've had is recessed into a plastic surround making it really difficult to install a screen protector. On a phone it's easy since you can grip the edges.

Also if it's manufactured to a size where it goes right up to all 4 edges it would be a bear to remove.

I keep my MMI-s turned off (I think having a screen in a car is a gaudy idea). But having a protector for when it's time to sell is a good idea that I hadn't thought of. Thank you, OP, for suggesting it.
