I think there called drive belts. You know, the serpintine belt. I've had mine on my civic for 68k and they don't look bad yet.

I've had sepintine belts last 100+ miles, just look at the general condition and age of the belts before replacing them.

Every OEM serpintine belt has last me about 60k ...replacements, even from the better named brands ..seem to last much shorter mileage.

its difficult to tell the condition of a serp belt since it bends both directions and will develop cracks.

check owners manual for replacement schedule. follow the schedule. there are so many sizes available, its might be difficult to find one of the right size on a short notice.

I just replaced a serpentine belt with 42,000 miles on it. It had a lot of cracks on the inside and one on the outside of the belt.

Any car of mine (or GF) that has a timing belt, gets all new accessory belts at the same time, and have never had a problem with changing them at 80-95k mile intervals. Most still look good, but are cheap and easy to do at the same time.

OEM on my '99 F150 is finally showing some wear at 131,000 miles. The OEM on my '97 also went about 140,000 miles before needing replacement.

The belts on my Jeep Cherokee seem to need replacing about every 40,000 miles. I blame the poor airflow under the hood.

I'm with Willy: 4-5 years max if you want to be safe. I've seen what looked like new belts break at 60,000 miles soa visual inspection doesn't tell all. I keep my cars to ~ 125-135,000 miles so I change belts & coolant hoses ~ 70,000 miles. Timing belts on my interference engines get changed at the recomended milage or at 5 yearswhich ever comes first. JMW eddie

Wow, your belts last for miles??? That's long. Mine is only like 10 feet tops wrapped all the way around the pulleys.

Okay bad joke.

Yeah i recently got my timing belt changed cause its a interference motor and i don't think they changed my other belts.

I bought the car used and looking at the belts the other day, they say mitsubishi on them, so i'm assuming they were changed at some time?
