How many actually cut open every used filter?

I have never cut a filter open. If you wait long enough some kind soul will do it for you. Or check out u tube.

I do. I cut every used filter open for two reasons:

1. To check the build quality
2. To make the filter more biodegradable

I also cut open MANY but, not all as to check their quality!
What I do notice mostly is, that I could have used the filter for a second OCI

As long as it fits in my cutter, I cut them all open. If nothing else, it helps me drain them out better before I toss the parts in the trash.

I need to invest in a nice filter cutter. My HF pneumatic cutter has one foot on a banana peel and the other in the grave.

I cut open most of mine, but not all. I have an oil filter cutter that I bought from Jegs a long time ago. Before that, when I used a Dremel or hacksaw, I barely ever cut any open. Now it's just like opening a can of veggies!

Yes, I cut open all of mine with a Longacre filter cutter. But I don't surgically inspect the element unless I have some concern about abnormal operating conditions over the last OCI.

I've been cutting almost all of them open for a couple of years now. Right now, I have a Royal Purple and an OCOD awaiting dissection.

so any of you find any thing disturbing, like my god my cam shaft is failing, or this filter sucks and came apart??

Or is it more like, not much debris, nothing to see hear as usual!

I did it once, years ago. That was enough for me. My Saturn ecotec uses cartridges which is nice, although there's still nothing exciting to see.

Every time? At that point its either OCD or a hobby.

Hobby for me cheap fun for an oil / filter nerd.

I cut anything I'm testing and trying out, or anything that I don't recall having been posted on here recently. You can learn a lot even if there are not any visible "defects".

When my only way of cutting them involved a hacksaw or sawzall, I didn't cut too many. Now that I have a filter cutter I cut all of them open since it only takes a few seconds to do so.

I'm always curious to see what is inside, both good and bad.
