How long to use Wire Backed Fram Titanium?

I've got a wire backed Fram Titanium 3593a that I plan to put on my Honda HRV with 1.8l engine. The car has been owned since ~25k and has had oil changes based on the Maintenance Minder (~6k miles) with Fram EG filters changed every other OC.

I'm curious how far you guys would push this filter. I'm contemplating trying for somewhere between 30k and 50k miles.

Thoughts?

Oh god, here we go all over again.

Hey, you're partially to blame for my curiosity. Maybe if you didn't use a Tough Guard for 28k, a long run on a Titanium wouldn't have piqued my interest. I figure if a TG can do it, why can't a Titanium.

@Linctex is also implicated due to his 50k run on a TG

I wouldn't go that far. If you've done 6K miles then I'd do 3 x 6K for a total of 18K miles. That gives you a little headroom from the "up to" mileage rating of the Ultra. You can not tell how loaded an oil filter is just by looking at the media after it's been used ... unless the engine is a real sludge monster and leaves lots of visible deposits.

Kind of wondering if I could put one of those Purolator boss filters to a 20,000 mile interval or at least many changes up to or around 20,000 miles. After the tear down when they replace the timing chain and did the spark plugs at 370,000 miles everything looked pretty good I'm kind of tempted to

If the louvers are open go for it. Boss should have a good holding capacity and low efficiency.
