How Long Does Typical Engine Break-in Really Last ? - for maximum power

People that constantly worry about their vehicles must have some really boring lives. When the car is new you need to baby it to let it break in. Once it has some miles under the belt you need to baby it so it doesn’t break down.

When do you people enjoy your vehicles?
If vehicles were as sensitive as some people think they are we’d all be in big trouble.

Probably more the rest of the drivetrain benefits from a semi gentle break in? Diffs, and gears wearing in without a lot of high load to work harden surfaces?

People take care of their vehicles as they cost so much these days, and manufacturer warranties are not as good as people think, some BRZ /GR86 owners get denied warranty coverage for failed engines , so you have to be careful.

Apparently never, based on your advice. You must be a very boring person!;)

^ I've said it a few times over the years, people who actively participate on an oil forum like this are all looking for the fountain of youth for their vehicles. We all want our cars to stay brand new forever , and somewhere in our brains we think there is an elixir out there that will help achieve that. I am looking too.

I have seen many examples in the “Used oil analysis” forum here where the owner does oil analysis right from the first oil change and it usually takes 2 or 3 oil changes and about 10,000 to 15,000 miles for the metals (iron, copper and aluminum) to settle down at low levels.
