How do you know when an exhaust valve burns out? I have a 01 CR-V guess its a common problem.

Someone good with a borescope can usually determine if a exhaust valve is leaking.

Engine makes no noise and car runs fine. I just know of some people that had this problem and if it does happen to me I wanted to know what are the signs. The CR-V is in great mechancial order.

If you are really worried about it, do a leak down test. Compressed air and an ear to the tailpipe/intake/oil fill cap are a quick way to find a problem.

Naw, I am not really worried. I will wait for an engine light or it running funny. It runs strong and great now. Who knows it may never happen to this one.
