How do you introduce special characters (symbols)?

I know what the codes are for different symbols. I just don't know what tags to use in order for them to be recognized by the UBB software.

The ¼ format they describe here does not seem to work on BITOG.

¼

Like that?

On a PC keyboard hold down the alt key and enter 0188 on the numeric keyboard.

In XP go to start/allprograms/accessories/systemtools/charctermap for a some useful guidance.

Same with mine. There is more than one way to get the same symbol. Mine's quicker.

I just can't seem to figure out the code numbers for "equal or greater than" and "equal or less than" symbols.

Still don't know what you're talking about, unfortunately. Maybe you have some application on your PC that I don't? It doesn't matter I guess, since I can't see any symbols in your post anyway. :)

I tried copying a character from the Windows Character Map, but as soon as the message is posted, the character is being converted to numbers, so you can no longer see it.

≥ and ≤

I went to notepad, ald 242 and 243, then cut and paste the results. Of course it works on preview but not elsewhere. I discredit that they're in the "extended ascii" with the umlauts and are probably not the 7-bit regular ascii characters this BBS software seems to accept..

Dude - easy pie if you have PC with Windows.

Just friggen' drag the character map onto your desktop.

Select the one you want (in whatever font) and copy it. (although I still use Alt 2-4-8 for °)
