This is the door that I got from the junkyard for my wife's Expedition. They junkyard guys wrote on it with something red. I can't tell what it is. It seems like fingernail polish. It won't come off. What is it & how do I remove it without damaging the paint?

Clay bar would probably work if it is wax crayon. If it is magic marker use rubbing alcohol and a fresh rag. We had a bad experience one time when a rag had a dried prior solvent on it.

Stuff like this I would typically start out with a cleaner (or one-step) wax. My thought is that it's not going to harm the paint, and typically a cleaner wax has gotten anything off my paint that shouldn't have been there. It probably takes a little more elbow grease though.

The red marking has been removed. I found out it was done with a wax marker. I used Seafoam Deep Creep on a shop towel to remove it. It came off easily.
