how do i clean THIS?

hello all, when you use a cheap aftermarket air filter, or no filter at all, all that dust and stuff gets in your intake. how would you go about cleaning the mess it makes in the engine? seafoam in a vacuum line? add a cleaner to gas? or is this something a good cleaning motor oil would do? just wondering exactly what gets dirty when that happens, and how to clean it.....?

Most of it should be in yourmotor oil and picked up by the oil filter. If you are really worried about it, change your oil.

Do you mean the film of dust that develops inside your intake?

Just use quality oil and filter and add something like techron or Sl-1 into your gas right before your oil is due.


or just use paper filters

A thin film of dust develops in the intake even when you use a high quality paper filter, eventually. It's not really anything to worry about, the particles are so small, and are ingested in such small quanitites over so long a period of time, that they won't hurt your engine in the slightest.

Either leave it alone or clean it like new.
