I cannot find amsoil for everything, looks like I can find some aFe dry for the rest except the K&N RC-5000 still looking for that one.

I dont know about Afe filters but I have a amsoil/injen nano filter on my injen intake and its top notch. Easy to clean and I bought a spare at AutoAnything website. I also like the Apexi Power Intake which are high performance dry filters for Asian imports. I can honestly say all dry filters nowaday seem to out perform oiled IMO and they are less hassle to service.

to bad the amsoil filters are getting so hard to find. cant find onr for my 01 Tacoma or my 03 deville. did find dry aFe filters that look pretty good.

Anyone aware of Afe's dry filters filtration efficiency? I looked on the thier sight they just seem to say somthing like 97.2% (I could very well be off just memory) anyways they don't say to what degree. 50 microns, 100 microns?

My sons wanting to get a K&N and I'm trying to talk him out of it. If I can find him a dry alternative that's easier to clean and less hassle I think he might like it.

Amsoil is getting out of the air filter market, sadly, they have top notch filters. Good thing though I just bought 5 Amsoil filters for the price of one... clearance pricing.

I bought 5 for the WRX $5 each. 3800 Series tell him K&N do suck, I never would have believed it before reading info here. And from witnessing how much fine dirt was getting by my 502 Ram jet K&N, and now today I pulled the K&N from the WRX and at first it looked ok but I decided to take a slightly damp paper towel and wipe the inside of the intake pipe and sure enough super fine dust was getting by that K&N, even though the clean side of the filter looked good I think dirt was passing. I have not given up on the spectre yet as they are suppose to be synthetic multi layer fiber. As I pull those three I will be looking for signs like I found on the K&N. The aFe look pretty good, thought I was getting the amsoil ones but ordered aFe by mistake for the 350Z but want to know more about them before I put them on it. So anything anyone knows would be helpful. It takes two and they came to $110 for the pair so I will return them if I cannot find more info

how about airaid dry filters? anyone know the micron of their advertised 99% efficiency, and I see aFe touting 99.2% efficiency but none say down to what micron

The Amsoil is only good for 100k, and cannot be cleaned/submerged in water (unless they have changed since I've looked?).

With aFe Pro Dry S, or Airaid Synthamax, you can vacuum or clean in water. And, they are supposed to last a lifetime. I've used both.

The aFe Pro Dry S I have in my Civic for 3 years now and it's gotten the best results in terms of PPM in the UOAs I've run. Better than the drop-in K&N oiled filters for sure. Impressed by the quality and single-digit readings leave me satisfied. The plus side is no re-oiling after cleaning.

I would highly recommend aFe or dry filtration over oiled filters which is to make up for a less-efficient filter anyway. For my app, I couldn't get an Amsoil air filter IIRC, but pricing is similar. To me, if you are going away from the stock filtration/replace @ 'X' mileage then it's worth it. Do not pay for K&N oiled filters.
