Far less violent than Americans Our homicides and crime rates are miniscule in comparison. Nice try.

You might want to look at THIS site. It might open your eyes. Especially THIS page.

Tempest, yep there are certain crimes that Aussies seem to excel at, and they are typically things like home invasion, rape, and 6 on 1 beatings in dark alleys on a Friday or Saturday night (purely for the purpose of pleasure on the part of the attackers).

Wasn't premeditated

Yeah sprint, it wasn't but they still charged him with murder.

Confuses me once again. Bloke who belted David Hookes gets off entirely (after chasing him 50 yards before flattening him), without even a manslaughter charge, while this bozo goes for murder (I would have agreed manslaughter)

age discrimination here. if someone sprayed water in my face with a hose, 66 years old or not, I'm kickin ---- and takin names.

If a bloke half your age started abusing you for spraying your garden, would yo spray him in the face, or turn your tap off ?

I dunno. It would "depend". But no matter what I did in reaction to it ...we both have to live with the consequences of the interaction (I think that we're in agreement here). I'm surely not bolstering the aggressive (Oggresif - crock hunter RIP) guy's actions ..NO ..but if I encounter a viscous dog ...do I bait him? This is where "rights" get really blurred in practicality. You always risk the possibility that the other participant has no respect for yours and won't respond in a manner that you think is appropriate.

The moral of the story is when it comes to physical encounters ...pick the battles that you can win unless you're given no other choice. If you're just a miserable person who's been used to being a miserable person (which I don't know our departed participant here) who just dismissed our attacker with a spray of the hose telling him to go truck himself and the horse he came in on ...then he baited the savage beast due to his unwise use of his presumed rights.

Now mori ..and perhaps myself even ...would have sprayed the clown too ...but I would have assured that I was in a position of strength or superior tactical position before doing so. I wouldn't be doing it to someone of superior size or strength ..or one that perhaps exhibited aggression that may trump my ability to cope with them (I'm aging).

As we can see, this poor guy would have been far better off if he hadn't chosen to hose the guy. If he'd remained civil and merely asserted that he was within his rights ..or merely walked away and called the police, he would have been alive.

Won't get an argument from me on that Gary.

Hosing him was a typically Oz response to a busybody. The reaction was something that we are seeing increasingly in Oz as Oz becomes atypically Oz.
