Yep, thats a good summary. the dealers "services" beyond that are mainly inspections, they nail you for. I would just pop the hood and get aquainted with both vehicles.

Relax Chicken Little, I believe his car is a manual. I'm not familiar with what fluid is recommended.

FWIW, I have used Amsoil in a Honda auto for 50 thousand miles without issue. I believe there are other members who have more miles.

I thought about this application a little, maybe it would be better to use hours of use as a service indicator.

Maybe:
250-300 hours for the engine oil
1000 hours for the trans
1500-2000 for coolant

just a thought

My transmission says otherwise.

Amsoil's ATF works great in Honda AT's, and so does Z1.

Speaking of Honda maintenance and Toyota too, has anyone come to any conclusions about their engines in general to tell whether they prefer certain types of oils, additives or other facets of an oil's features over other less desirable traits when it comes to choosing the right oils for these cars?

For example, why does Ford Motorcraft work so well in Hondas namely whether the GRP III used in MC is 'preferred' for some reason over other GRP IIIs used in other semi-synthetics. I guess we need to establish these facts as true first:

1. All semi-synthetics contain some GRP III.
2. What GRP IIIs are most desirable for Hondas (and perhaps Toyota as well)

I'm not talking about wear control as much as I am FE and performance.

I have 40k kms on my 07 Accord.

So far;
oil changes every 8-9k kms per OLM (conventional with Wix fiters) after seeing the used oil analysis off here synthetic is a waste in this 2.4l engine.
1 air filter
1 cabin air filter
tire rotations x 2
ALL DIY

Been in for 2 warranty problems


Runs Great, hasn't cost me much.
