set up an appointment with than TOYOTA , SUBARU , or others . Does this tell you better reliability of HONDA over the others ?

Maybe they hire that many more techs to deal with the volume

I wouldn't read much into it. IME, a full dealer service station usually means a good dealer service station.

You are making assumptions on a car brand based on anecdotes with single franchisees.

My bothers daughters new civic was in there at 4800 miles needing new rear disc brakes due to a caliper malfunction. They didnt warranty it saying it was a "wear item".

I think she should contact corporate Honda and get it goodwilled or warrantied. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Yea its a wear item but not at that mileage. I'd fight it through corporate as well. The caliper, brake pads and rotor should be replaced under warranty.

It is all dependant on the individual dealer and what Dealer Management Software they use. Also it is down to the process at that dealer. Sometimes you can just give you info over the phone and they scribble it all down and enter it into the computer later, while some make you wait while they enter it. Also it depends on the ability of the person that actually answers the phone...

NO. Did not like dealer service. Sloppy and forgetful. Would not go back now. My Honda was not reliable. Transmission and other things.

Is that statistic real? I have only dealt with Audi, Toyota, nissan, Infiniti and BMW in the last 10 or so years, all but Audi have always had me in the morning after I call. And BMW/Infiniti/Nissan provide loaners.

Is Honda faster than that, or are the others slower in other areas?

Dragging rear brakes due to sticking calipers has been a Honda trademark for a few years now. I can't believe they're still not owning up to it. (Well, I can, but I can't...you know what I mean.)

The reason for this is because they have a lack of product for the sales department so to make up for it they are trying to increase volume through the service departments.

This is all nonsense. Dealer service departments are not owned or managed by the manufacturer. Some Honda dealers will have a quick turnaround, others may not. I am sure we can find examples from all makes.

This has no relation to reliability or the results from the sales floor.

I would not read into it at all. It fluctuates. Some days they are very busy, others they are slow. Some are just staffed better than others. Some are in more populous locations.

Yes it does, right now Honda has a severe shortage of new car products available and this is killing incomes at the Honda stores, I am sure that they are trying to make up for the shortfall in the service depts.

All the more reason to be more wary of Honda dealer service right now anyway especially if you are paying cash.

Complete nonsense. Are you stating that one poster's experience with service availability is due to a shortage of vehicles and as a result all Honda dealers will now be screwing customers in their service departments?

I agree 100%. When we had our Accord, a visit to the dealer for service of any kind required an appointment made about two weeks in advance. There was no such thing as service-the-same-day.

It is 100% dependent on the dealer.

Crown Dodge would typically work in a drop-off that same day, and for sure the next day.
Rick Hendrick Chrysler would force me to make an appointment 2 weeks out, even with an ABS light on the dash glowing.
Rick Hendrick Toyota would request an appointment, but would work the vehicle in if you made them.
Bryan Honda/Cadillac has always been a pistol to work with.
Sanford Honda up the road is excellent.

As you can see, I've had two widely different experiences with two dealers in the same manufacturer family (Dodge/Chrysler), and two widely different experiences with two dealers in the same dealer network (Rick Hendrick).

It's really all about who's running the show in the physical building.
