I thought I'd post this up for another member...
Back story: Some time ago I posted in someone else's thread about topping off the reservoir in my wife's Malibu using Honda PSF (all I had at the time). I had remarked that it was a bit noisy on cold winter mornings and that after I did that, it stopped. If I remember correctly, Vikas or Hokyfied??? Maybe one of those two I think seemed interested and wanted future results.
Well here they are- was changing her oil the other day and decided to change out the rest of the PSF with some OE Honda PSF that I bought a while back. Suctioned out as much as I could and refilled with the Honda stuff and ran the engine/cycled the wheel several times. Used about 2 quarts in all. The result? I went out and started the car one -10*F morning and silence! I don't know what's so special about the Honda lube, but it made a believer out of me.
I've tried various PSFs on her GM pumps throughout the years (her Grand Am, then the Malibu) and they have always groaned/whined when colder than about 10*F. So this is a success to me- just passing on some anecdotal info to anyone who is interested.
