I need to change the power steering fluid fluid in my Ody. I am kind of up in the air on which fluid to use. I like the Amsoil products, but does the power steering fluid really matter? I am sure I would be fine if I used the OEM stuff and it is a lot cheaper. Talk be into which way I should go. Obviously I like Amsoils products, but I haven't been convinced the power steering fluid is worth the cost.

Honda needs a specialty fluid. For a Honda, Id stick with that fluid only.
I see no advantage to using something other than the OEM fluid for PSF.
IMO, synthetic PSF is a novelty. Maybe if you were racing...
And it's not only cheaper, it's more readily available as well.

Honda or Honda spec'ed PSF only.
Amsoil's new PSF is recommended for Honda applications. It's supposed to be pretty good, so if I owned a Honda, AMSOIL power steering fluid is what I'd use in the system.

Many European cars leave the factory with synthetic PSF. There must be a good reason to use a product that costs 5x to 10x as expensive.

Thats what someone posted as happening to them after using non honda fluid.
I have read several stories of this happeneing. Although, I have never experienced this as I won't use anything but Honda or Honda spec'ed PSF in my Honda/Acura.
I don't feel like doing a steering rack R&R like those unfortunate enough to have used other fluids.

Honda Power Steering Fluid has a different visc (thicker) and has additional additives like Zn, P, Ca, etc as detergent. Not sure if Amsoil's visc is correct for Honda application, but I wouldn't take a chance on it unless they guarantee it or I've seen people use it without problem.
