Honda Pilot

Hi all,
What would be the best oil filter for a Honda Pilot? I'm about to do the first oil change and will be using Honda Oil 5w20. I heard that some Honda filters are made by Fram. Don't want to use them. So, I'm thinking of K&N or Napa Gold. Of course you might have a better choice for me. thanks

i use the bosch premium. Good flowing filter that is between mobil 1 and k&n. Its also 5.49 at autozone and has a fiberglass blend inside.

The wix or Napa Gold filters (made by wix) seem to be good filters.

What about Supertech (sold in Walmart), STP (Autozone), or Purolator (Pep Boys)? These are all reputed to be solid quality. I generally use Proline (Pep Boys house brand). It is visually identical to the Purolator and about $1 less. Don't know if any of these stores are local to you on the island, but it's worth a shot.

I have chopped open the Purolator, ST, STP, and several other brands. Most of them were about the same except Fram short on area, and AC much better. I am using St on my truck because nobody around here stocks the AC. Bought a WIX for my car today. Can't see that it is worth the premium price

However, as far as I know, Bosch oil filters are not sold in Hawaii. A problem with living on a island. I could order some over the net, but, shipping is silly. Do you have a secound choice?

Dude, Supertech is nothing but piece of junk. I recently used it with my 1999 camry and Mobil 1 10W30 synthetic, not even 1800 miles and my oil went dark black. when fram x2 used oil starts turning slight dark brown around 2500, by the time i change it its 3000 miles but i still can notice its only real dark brown.

camrys after 1997 have a bad reputation to build up sludge pretty quickly, even though i know its synthetic oil that i am using, just to be on safe side, I change oil every 3000 miles, another thing is i drive about 60 miles one way in bumper to bumper traffic that hits hard on my oil. But good thing is my car never experienced any engine related problem. if you open up oil filler you still can see that shiny aluminium with very few stains is a nice feeling that this car would last me for atlest 300000 miles with least maintenance.

After fighting over this with a friend, we have it narrowed down between k&n and Mobil 1. I know k&n has better flow, Mobil 1 has better filtering. Now the fight, do you want better flow or filtering? I will be using Honda 5w20 oil.

The Honda USA filters part# 15400-POH-305 are made by filtech, if you still want these, better get em quick, because Honda has discontinued these and replaced them with a new smaller filter part# 15400-PLM-AO1 although the new one is not a Fram either it has metal end caps and a metal bypass valve unlike the Fram which has a plastic bypass valve and cardboard end caps. You can do a search and find the above mentioned filters at several different websites for between $4.75-$6.00. The OEM Honda Canadian filters are made by fram by the way

What ever you can find will do nicely. Your first two picks the NAPA GOld and the K&N are both nice filters. If you have a walmart the Tech2000 would work just fine as well. It would probably be easier for use if youtold us what you can get on the island. I have done a lot of business with people in Hawaii so I know that selection can be a problem.

Thanks for the info John. Thats one of the reasons I was asking about the K&N and Napa filters, they are both fairly easy to get here. Even the wal-marts here don't sell all that the mainland does. Like 0w20 Mobil 1. Can't get it here. Can't get the Mobil 1, or Puralator filters.
