honda manual transmission

Hello everyone,
I would like to say that this is very good web site!
My question is for my daugther car a 1993 civic with 277 000 miles and the original transmission.
Last year the manual transmission was grinding(synchro) from third speed to the fourth. I changed the transmission fluid for Honda mtf and no improvement, so i change again to Pennzoil Synchromesh and the problem disapear.
Now again the transmission is grinding but from first gear to second, so i am planning to change the oil again but witch one is the best?
Have you tried amsoil MTF???

My brother has a 93 Civic with the 5 speed, and the shop manual on cdrom he bought from ebay says to use 5w30 motor oil. His one grinds occasionally going into reverse, but granted it does have almost 420000 kms on it.

With 277 000 miles, I wonder how many gear shifts this car had ???

With this many miles, the synchros are worn out and I wouldn't worry about grinding. No fluid can fix a worn out trans.

Try our MTL-P. It has synchro friction modifiers that last longer.

But I'm with LT4 Vette, your synchro assemblies may be worn out.

Pennzoil Synchromesh is great, for short term. Most people report that it loses it's 'oomph' after a while. It's what I've personally noticed, as well.
The fully synthetic fluids from Specialty Formulations have great add packs, and shift very well.
I use S.F. Synchroglide - smooth as an Angel's ****.

How much free play is there in the pedal? You may just have to adjust the clutch master cylinder pushrod to take the slack out if it's not totally disengaging the clutch.
