I have a Honda self propelled lawnmower whose throttle lowers as I mow the lawn. Is there an adjustment to correct this or do I need a new throttle assembly

Try making sure all of the linkages to the carburetor are clean and free of debris.
Air Filter is clean?
How is the Spark Plug?
Do you have a Fuel Filter on this Mower?

What fantastic said was great, I am just throwing some other stuff out to help you out.

The only other thought is maybe to run some fuel system cleaner in the mower, if what fantastic said does not work out

Here's a pdf download of the shop maintenance manual. It covers both the throttle lever and auto-throttle versions. You'll want to jump down to page 183 (section 11-26) to see the throttle lever dissambly. There's a spring that provides tension. Without seeing yours, I couldn't tell you if you have worn detents or need a stronger spring, or just add a washer or something to increase friction to get the lever to stay put (assuming the lever is moving down towards slow/off).
