Need to flush the coolant in a 99 Honda Civic EX, and a 99 Honda Accord EX V6. I'm sure that both came from the factory with the traditional green coolant, but I'm wondering what would be the best choice for a replacement. Both will receive a "T" flush (with a chemical flush, because I don't really know each car's history), so there will be no "mixing" issues. Should I use something like Prestone All Makes, or some sort of Asian formula. I hope to be able to use the same product in each vehicle. As always, thanks for any help!

I used the new Honda pre-mixed blue coolant on my son's 2001 Civic. Coolant types are so complicated you have to be a chemist to understand the issues, it is just easier to use the manufactures coolant.

The Japanese mfr.s don't like 2-EHA-containing (like Prestone AMAM or Dexcool), and they aren't crazy about conventional green either-if it was me I would try to find Peak Global Lifetime, or use Zerex Asian Vehicle Formula (which unfortunately only comes in 50/50 premix), or just go back with the green it had in it & drain/refill every couple of years. I had 2 Civics back in the day ('89 3-door & '90 wagon), 2 of the best cars I've ever had-other than the junk plastic tank radiators I never had a cooling system problem w/green AF.
What does the dealer stuff cost? You know that will work and it's readily available.
My GF has a 98 Civic EX. I just changed the fluid when I put in a new timing belt & water pump. Get the Honda OEM fluid. It's not much more than other fluids and you know it will play safe all the Honda parts. I know for the Civic it takes 1 gallon for a full refill.

Honda Blue isn't that expensive when you buy it concentrated.
I'd just run the Honda Type 2 coolant. Its not cheap, dpending on your source can run from $12 - $15 per gallon. But its long-life, 5 years/50k miles so it will last awhile. And its good stuff, I put it in both cars and all my motorcycles.

Honda blue is all I would use. Honda is nuts over coolant testing. They know their stuff on coolant.
Honda type II is H-OAT and it is debatable how much less of a plasticizer it is than 2-EHA in Dexcool. If you use type II in an application that originally used the original formula it is somewhat of a gamble with gasket durability and if the vehicle has a copper, brass and solder radiator. The issue dexclone has with air wouldn't be a problem with the type II. I not much of a fan of the all makes formula.
If Honda Type 2 is more expensive than you want to get into, the Zerex Asian formula should be a good replacement. Spec'd for all Japanese manufactured vehicles, including Honda. I just picked up a jug of it today, intending to use it to flush out and replace the coolant in my Kymco scooter. Local price at my NAPA was $10.21 (plus tax). It's a 50/50 blend, long-life: 5 years/150k miles.

Hi, I have the same issue for my 2000 Accord but I already bought an Asian formula of a sort. Though I haven't replaced it yet. I read about a post that Honda has its own coolant formula. My buddy advised me that Prestone is something that you replaced every seven years or something.. Basically, Prestone is not something he recommends. Well, I know most Honda coolants are pre-diluted now..?

The only thing I could find that wasn't 50/50 (including Honda coolant from the dealer) was Peak Global Lifetime, so that's what's going in.
