2005 Honda Civic 1.7L with 120k miles.

This is my sister's car she uses for school. It sees an hour long highway trip at least twice a week, the rest are short trips. I use a Purolator PureOne filter on this car. How long of an OCI could I do with Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w20 vs. Pennzoil Platinum 5w20? I have both on the shelf.

Thanks!

I have the same car, with same engine. If your using synthetic do the specified 10k or 1 year OCI. Use a long distance filter like Bosch DistancePlus or Purolator Synthetic. If you insist on using the PureOne, change it half way.

I have a friend with the same car. But he drives around 100miles a day. He runs gtx 5/20 and changes it at 10k+. Its not pretty inside but he just hit 250k miles and its running strong.
I guess my point is that these cars will hold up forever even when neglected so I wouldnt worry to much about pushing Pennzoil Platinum or Quaker State Ultimate Durability 8k in your application.

PP / Quaker State Ultimate Durability / Synpower / Edge / M1

Use any for 7500 miles OCI with a P1 or better filter.

Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w20 is an excellent choice in that engine. So is PP, which I used in my gf's Civic before we traded it in. Make sure the PCV is changed ( its kind of a pain to get to ).

On these cars you have to worry about transmission more than the engine. Do regular drain and fills every 30k~40k miles. Recommend using DW-1, Maxlife or Castrol IMV ATF.

Do a P/S flush using a turkey baster method and use ONLY Honda Genuine P/S Fluid.

This. Yep. The PCV isnt hard to get to IF your under the car. Its to the right of the oil filter. But yeah transmission drain and fill every 30k or 3 years.
