Purchased some sensa trac Monroe shocks for a total of 122.00 after taxes. The guy at the counter said that if I bought them from him he would remove the spring from the old shock and install it to the new Monroe shock for 15 bucks.An so I said to myself why not, it will save me at least 1 hours work in having to rent a spring compressor and changing the spring over. I agreed but I repeated to the guy a couple of times "make sure you align the shock properly and mark it. The guy said that he would not forget. And so I picked up the shocks and I noticed the one top bolt did not match the other shock top bolt. I continued to stare at the shock top bolt and noticed that one bolt was screwed in more than the other. I thought to myself, "whats going on". I took them home thinking that I would just tighten the bolt down a few turns and that would solve it...nope...never even got to that point. As I secured the top of the shock to the body of the car I positioned the wishbone and slid it towards the bottom of the shock and I noticed that the small pointer would not align with the wishbone(forgot the name of the part that secures to the bottom of the shock). I was hoping that the guy who worked on them maybe applied some lubricant or silicone so that i could just turn the shock and align...Nope...Tomorrow I will return them so that they align them...I bent the pointer on one of the shocks but it did not break off. I always wondered why a pointer is even needed but anyways its bent. Will continue the story tomorrow. By the way the monroe shock is the shock that is more commonly found in stores. Wish I had more time to wait and look for other shocks but my car is just sitting in my garage collecting dust while I drive my diesel approx 120 miles a day. I get 24-28mpg on my diesel and 34-38 mpg on my civic..I need my civic back on the road
