The engine is running again.I got it together last Friday night and we drove it 50 mi,his wife drove it 200 mi over the weekend.
It runs perfectly, smooth and quiet. The eco mode kicks in at approx 30 MPH just as it should. All monitors ran no CEL or VSA light.
I used QS 5w-30 with a Purolator classic and ran it for 5 min just to wash any junk and chemicals out from the cleaning, refilled with same oil and filter plus 16oz Kreen and will run it for 1k then OC with Mobil 1 ESP 5w-30 and a Mobil 1 filter,5K OCI.

This maybe of interest to owners of the Honda V6 engines.
The PCV valve is a strange one,it uses no hose and bolts into the valve cover in front of the dipstick.
The holes are tiny with even smaller holes at the small end.
It has a small valve inside but it wont take much to plug this one.
I asked a few parts stores if they had one and they didn't even list it.I got this one from Honda.

The PCV.

All in all i am very satisfied with the results.
I will post a valve adjustment thread soon.

Very good Trav, I think you're right on target with your regimen to keep this engine clean. I also must say very nice work overall, this was not an easy job but you tackled it with a good attitude and this is a terrific result. I bet the owner is pleased as punch

Are you saying the small holes in the PCV valve contributed to the problem?

My anxiousness to put Kreen to work increases with every new thread. It appears that your trust in it is growing as well.

Excellent job! Looks great.

Just got up to speed on the other thread. Strange indeed.

No.There is nothing that i know of that could clean really this engine by adding something to the oil.The Kreen was working on the varnish okay but there were blocked and frozen oil valves and passages,if the product cant get to the filth it cant work,i believe this to be the case with any additive cleaner.
The engine was initially only running on 3 cylinders most of time.
We did get 1K on it as the kreen had freed the valve but after seeing the amount of deposit build up we decided it was time to finally pull it apart.

I was never a fan of extended OCI am are even less now,i think the price of oil and a filter are a cheap investment rather than go through cleaning up something like this.
I understand some folks wanting to get every dimes worth out of the oil and some even spend good money to find out how much is left in the oil but to what end (i do understand looking for fuel and coolant in engines prone to these issues)?
Driving habits can change and effect the oil so i think i rather go 5K and just change it rather than spend good money on a UOA for a good running engine.
That's just my opinion,I'm sure hundreds will disagree and that's fine its their engine and their money.

I will try and put some sort of a Kreen test together later this month to test the effects on various gaskets and seals as well as the cleaning effects on some parts.
I have to dig up some decent test candidate parts first.

lol, +1.

I wonder if the PCV valve is indeed too tiny of a valve or atleast the hole off the sides of it? Do you have only 1 valve in the PCV system on your car?

I agree with your setup from now on Trav, for this application.

I think i will check this one more often then usual.

I wonder what everyone thinks of perhaps drilling the hole to be twice the size along the side???

I don't think it would be a good idea, the ECM may react like the engine has a vacuum leak and call for a richer mixture.
Course messing with the old one with the scan tool hooked up to watch the fuel trim may be something to experiment with.
