I just used a gift card and placed an order for $2.13 which will be delivered tomorrow. I wonder when this will end.

I recently had a family member ordering 6 bags of mulch at a time because HD was offering free delivery on up to 6 bags.
SO each day he was ordering 6 bags two separate times = was getting 2 deliveries per day of 6 bags each time.
All together he got just over 100 bags this way ... go figure.

@mrsilv04

Ps Lowes has mulch $2.50 a bag right now. 2cf size bags.

Important to know at times Scotts sometimes is offered around the same price, however the Scotts bags are 25 % smaller. Of course most of the public does not check that they are only 1.5cf

Some poor schmuck getting paid $2 to deliver that in their Kia Rio

The profit is customer satisfaction. It's a loss they have to eat but will gladly do so. it's like Costco's rotisserie chicken or their hotdogs; both underpriced and they lose profit on it but they get people in the door.

I bought some shelving units from HD before I had a vehicle large enough to transport them in. Some dude and his wife showed up with them on a trailer 2 hours later and put them in my garage! A nice tip was provided of course.

I'm not loyal to any retailer but these are nice brownie points. I'll buy from HD again, I don't think Lowes offers this right now.

I'm sure they are trying to emulate the success of Amazon/WalMart. The independent delivery service or OTR truckers are probably suffering from that policy as well.
I had a piece of fencing delivered from HD. It was sourced from Washington state (redwood), but it came to me via Texas, Utah, New Mex, and Arkansas (IN THAT ORDER) all for free!

Late to the game hence you pay dearly to get in.

Walmart was like this at the start.

This is it. Home Depot accepting the loss leader to not get left behind entirely.

HD is also a marketplace like Amazon, a lot of things available on the website that wouldn't normally be associated with HD. I prefer to support HD over Amazon, so I check there first.

I have a Home Depot about 2 blocks from my house, so I am there often. I do find it funny when getting something delivered is faster than setting up a pickup in store. I do really like their version of Amazon locker outside the store. The curbside pickup is kinda worthless as it is faster to pickup inside.

But their app is amazing, especially when you are in store and it lists the aisle and bin location of the item. I wish Costco had an app like that.

I bought a Vevor bench grinder from them, same price as Amazon. Went with HD...take that Bezos!!!!

The Costco app borders on useless. We used to have both a Costco and a Sam's Club club membership and the Sam's app was vastly superior.

But I like shopping at Costco better so that's all we have now :)

I thought the HD app was useless at best, and search was hot garbage. Easier to google home depot xyz item in a browser and let google link me to the right product page. Browser page shows aisle and bay location too.
