Does anyone know if this carb have a power valve? And if so, does it pop when you have a backfire? What's the max fuel pressure that it should be run at? Thanks

It's the same as a weber DGV so it doesn't ahve the typical holley power valve. Run the fuel pressure around 3-4 psi but it'll run on 2-6 psi. 6 might be a little too much.

I am looking at the exploded view of one now and it doesn't look like it has a power valve. Fair number of vac actuated diaphragms on it though.

It doesn't have a holly power valve, did you read my post? These don't blow out.

Here's a IPB

I did read your post, but it does have a different type of power valve.I think i figured it out.On the bottom of the fuel bowl is a spring and plunger.Someone that might of rebuilt the carb installed it in reverse.Instead of the spring under the plunger, they put the spring on top of the plunger.

Sorry, it was a bit of mis-communication. I am saying it doesn't have a "holley" power valve so they don't have the typical problems a holley has with power valves. In my experience a Weber DGV doesn't blow the power valve out if you get a backfire.

Looking at the diagram posted by Tom Slick, the "power valve" is Reference No. 39. This is a bit different enrichment valve than that used on a typical Holley 4bbl.

Man,this is weird.I have to stab the throttle around 3 times to get it started, but once the engine is on for a while, the headers will start to glow some, all 4 at the same time, same amount of glow. What the heck is going on?Is it set lean, but after it's running,it's rich, maybe due to it needing a fuel regulator?

I installed this carb a few months ago and it would turn on and idle very well, though i never drove because of no tags.Once i took it out to drive,It ran great for a block or 2,then it seemed like it started to flood.I took off a 3/8" vacuum plug and it seemed to start rather rough.I was able to drive it home revving it.A few days later is when i found out about the spring and plunger installed wrong. Now, i have to pump it a few times to even start it.My timing is set at factory spec,i forgot what it is at the moment. The vacuum was very good when it idled good, around 44".

Well, i got to thinking and i'm wondering if i close off the 2nd port off the fuel pump, the return line, would that help a little so it won't be so lean now

Weird, after messing with it for a while ,the engine seems to be running like new now.Even drove it for a good while and no more problems.
